Dr. Raelene Fulford is a pediatric dentist with almost 20 years of experience who holds a Master of Science in Pediatric Dentistry and a Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Her unique combination of pediatric dental and speech-language training gives her a broad perspective when evaluating tongue mobility, oral function, feeding, speech, breathing, and airway health.
Dr. Rae has pursued extensive advanced education in the evaluation and treatment of tongue restrictions, airway health, and laser dentistry.
Most recently, she completed an advanced interdisciplinary program in tongue and lip tie treatment and airway health through The Breathe Institute and earned the prestigious Breathe Institute Ambassador certification. Developed under the leadership of the esteemed Dr. Soroush Zaghi, Medical Director of The Breathe Institute, the program reflects his influential research and clinical work advancing the understanding of lingual frenuloplasty, functional tongue mobility, and the role of myofunctional therapy in comprehensive treatment.
Dr. Rae also holds advanced certification in Infant and Pediatric Tongue Ties and Lip Ties: Diagnosis and Laser Treatment, completing her education under Dr. Robert Convissar through Full Spectrum Seminars and the American Board of Laser Surgery. This training provided an extensive foundation in laser physics, tissue interaction, safety, diagnosis, and precise surgical treatment of tethered oral tissues.
Dr. Rae has also completed didactic education with Dr. Kacy Jo-Williams through The Vivos Institute, focusing on functional frenuloplasty and the assessment and treatment of tethered oral tissues. Following this coursework, Dr. Jo-Williams came to Camp Little Tooth for dedicated, in-person mentorship and additional clinical training, allowing Dr. Rae to further refine her evaluation, treatment planning, and surgical techniques in her own clinical setting.
To continually refine her laser skills, Dr. Rae has also completed additional in-person CO₂ laser training with DEKA, with an emphasis on laser settings, tissue management, and surgical technique.
In addition to her education in tethered oral tissues, Dr. Rae has completed multiple courses through The Vivos Institute focused on pediatric airway health, sleep-disordered breathing, craniofacial growth and development, and the recognition of airway concerns in children. This education has strengthened her understanding of how breathing, sleep, oral function, and facial growth and development can be interconnected.
At the Camp Little Tooth Tongue Tie & Airway Center, care extends beyond tongue and lip tie treatment. Dr. Rae takes a comprehensive, function-focused approach to tongue and lip ties, airway health, and guided oral and craniofacial growth and development. This includes evaluating how an infant or child breathes, sleeps, grows, and functions, as well as determining when a release may be appropriate, when additional support is needed, and when growth-guidance approaches may help support healthy oral development and airway function.
