Camp Little Tooth

Silver Diamine Flouride Treatments

Receiving a dental cleaning and exam here at Camp Little Tooth’s® pediatric dental office every six months is a very important part of achieving and maintaining your child’s dental health.

Good at-home oral hygiene is vital to managing plaque and tartar buildup, but the teeth can’t be thoroughly cleaned without the help of a professional. If you aren’t having your children’s teeth cleaned regularly, it may lead to tooth and gum diseases.

What To Expect During Your Child’s Dental Cleaning

  • First, your child’s mouth and teeth will be examined for infections, dental cavities, tooth decay, open sores, or swollen and bleeding gums.
  • Next, plaque and tartar will be removed from the surfaces of your child’s teeth. The method of removal will depend upon the severity of the buildup.
  • Lastly, Dr. Raelene Fulford will evaluate your child’s mouth and examine any X-rays your child may have had taken. She will also address any concerns or questions you may have about your child’s dental health.

Your child’s dental health is important to us and we want to make sure his or her teeth are kept clean and sparkling! To make an appointment for a pediatric dental cleaning and exam, please don’t hesitate to contact Camp Little Tooth® Pediatric Dentistry here in Lafayette, Colorado.

For Children Under 3

Children under the age of three have different needs than our older children. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children have their first dental visit by age one.

Your little one’s exam will take place in our Lil’ Critter Cabin, specifically designed with their needs in mind. Dr. Rae will examine your child in what is called the knee-to-knee position with both you and Dr. Rae holding your child. This provides comfort for the child to be held in their parent’s lap and allows an opportunity for the parent to learn how to properly brush and care for the teeth. Throughout this part of the exam, Dr. Rae will provide information about your child’s oral health and what to prepare for as your child grows. A thorough exam will be completed followed by a fluoride treatment. Establishing a dental home early is key in the prevention of dental disease and to make sure your child is comfortable in the dental environment.
