Camp Little Tooth

Airway Assessment & Treatment

At Camp Little Tooth Tongue Tie and Airway Center, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive airway assessments and treatment for children, ensuring they have the best start in life. Healthy breathing is essential for your child’s overall development, and early detection of airway issues can prevent a range of health complications. Our specialized team is here to assess, diagnose, and treat airway concerns with care and precision, giving your child the tools to thrive.

Why is Airway Health Important?

A properly functioning airway is crucial for your child’s sleep, growth, and overall well-being. Breathing issues can manifest in various ways, from trouble sleeping and frequent snoring to behavioral concerns and developmental delays. Airway obstructions or dysfunction can lead to long-term issues like sleep apnea, speech difficulties, and poor concentration.

At Camp Little Tooth, we focus on early intervention to address these problems before they worsen, helping your child live a happier, healthier life.

Airway Appliances & The MouthMallows™:
Making Treatment Fun!

MouthMallows

At our Tongue Tie & Airway Center, we believe that airway health should be a fun and engaging journey for every child. That’s why Dr. Rae has designed a unique, interactive experience to help children feel excited and involved in their treatment.

In line with our camp-themed office, Dr. Rae, with the creative help of her brother—the talented graphic designer behind all the custom artwork at Camp Little Tooth—has brought to life a cast of adorable and playful characters: The MouthMallows™!

With seven fun characters to choose from—Toothie, Gummy, Babie, Pearlie, Wizzie, Chompie, and Buckie—your child can personalize their airway appliance and feel a sense of ownership over their treatment. This exciting approach encourages enthusiasm and helps improve compliance, ensuring the best possible results.

Each appliance also comes with its very own MouthMallow Cabin, a special home designed to keep their appliance safe when not in use. To make the journey even more rewarding, we’ve created a custom incentive program where children can earn prizes from the camp store based on their consistency in wearing their appliance.

Our goal is to make this experience engaging, rewarding, and, most importantly, successful—because when children are excited about their treatment, they’re more likely to stick with it!

Let’s make this a fun adventure together with The MouthMallows™!

How The Airway Appliance works

Growth Guide appliances are dental devices that help with jaw development
and breathing in children. Here’s how they work:

  • Prefabricated Design: The appliances are ready-made and easy to use.
  • Improves Jaw Growth: Helps guide the teeth and jaw into proper alignment.
  • Supports Airway Health: Keeps the airway open to improve breathing and reduce snoring, grinding and sleep apnea.
  • Comfortable and Non-invasive: Worn at night, the appliances are designed to be comfortable and easy for kids to wear.
  • Promotes Better Sleep: By improving breathing, they help children get better, uninterrupted sleep.

These appliances are a simple and effective way to support both oral health and breathing in children.

MyoMunchees:
Small Device, Big Impact

MyoMunchees

Growing Strong Smiles, One Chew at a Time

At Camp Little Tooth, we know that growing smiles need more than just clean teeth — they need healthy muscles, good breathing patterns, and strong oral habits. That’s why we incorporate MyoMunchees into both our myofunctional therapy program and our airway program. The MyoMunchee is a simple, kid-friendly tool that turns chewing into exercise, supporting proper growth, stronger muscles, and healthier breathing for your child.

The MyoMunchee is a small, chewable oral appliance made of soft medical-grade silicone. It looks a bit like a mouthguard but is designed to be chewed, turning chewing into a simple daily exercise. By working the lips, cheeks, tongue, and jaw together, it helps children build strong oral muscles, improve breathing, and support healthy jaw and facial development.

Dr. Rae and Amanda are both Certified MyoMunchee Providers and trained to guide your child with the proper appliance, fit, and daily use so they get the best results.

What a MyoMunchee Helps With
  • Builds strong lips, cheeks, tongue, and jaw

  • Trains kids to keep their lips closed and breathe through their nose

  • Supports healthy jaw growth and straighter smiles

  • Encourages proper swallowing and tongue posture

  • Helps break habits like thumb sucking or pacifier use

  • Promotes better sleep and overall oral health

Frequently Asked Questions – Insurance, Payment & Treatment Information

Yes, we will bill your insurance company on your behalf for the treatment. However, please note that the cost of the Airway Appliance, Myofunctional Therapy, or Frenectomy is an out-of-pocket expense.

After we submit the claim, your insurance company will reimburse you directly for any eligible portion of the cost. This means you will pay us directly, and then your insurance provider will send a check to you for any covered amount.

Many insurance companies offer an orthodontic benefit, which may be used for this treatment. We are happy to check insurance benefits, but ultimately, it is your responsibility to confirm with the insurance provider whether they will cover or reimburse the cost of treatment.

Since this is considered an out-of-pocket expense, the total cost is due at the time of service. However, we will submit all necessary paperwork to the insurance company to assist with reimbursement.

Reimbursement timelines vary by insurance provider. The process can take a few weeks to a couple of months. If there are questions about the status of reimbursement, it is best to contact the insurance provider directly.

Yes! We offer two payment options to make the process easier:

  • Split Payments: The payment can be split into two installments—one at the time of booking the appointment and the other on delivery of the appliance or after the frenectomy procedure.
  • CareCredit: We accept CareCredit for flexible financing options.

The Airway Appliance must be worn every night for 6 to 12 months to achieve the best results. Consistency is essential for success.

Progress will be monitored by taking photographs and records of the bite at each follow-up appointment. This allows us to track improvements and make any necessary adjustments.

Yes! The appliance is highly effective when used consistently and the prescribed protocol is followed. Adhering to the treatment plan will yield the best results.

Dr. Rae has created an engaging and fun program to help encourage consistent wear. The MouthMallows program features fun characters and an incentive system where tokens can be earned and redeemed at the camp store for special rewards.

Our goal is to make this a fun and exciting journey so that success can be achieved together!

Refunds are not offered unless there is an issue related to the structure of the appliance. Success with the appliance depends on consistent use and following the prescribed protocol. If there are concerns about fit or function, please contact us so we can evaluate and make any necessary adjustments.
