Oral hygiene is the regular practice of cleaning your teeth and mouth. Practicing good oral hygiene is a very important part of your child’s overall health. It’s also vital when trying to prevent dental problems dental cavities, gum disease, tooth decay, and others.
Practicing Good Oral Hygiene
Oral hygiene practices should include the following:
- Brushing your child’s teeth at least twice a day
- Using a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste to prevent cavities
- Flossing daily
- Visiting your child’s pediatric dentist here at Camp Little Tooth every six months for a dental cleaning and a checkup
In addition, be mindful of what your child’s diet consists of. Too much sugar can eat away at the vulnerable tooth enamel, as can caffeine or highly acidic foods. If your child does have a diet high in sugar, please make sure he or she brushes frequently to keep the bacteria away.
